The Bridgend Creative Writing Group meets every
Wednesday from 10.30am - 12.30 and offers a wide variety
of writing skills to learn. The group encourages individuals
to try their hand at many different subjects in a variety
of genres including poetry. No qualifications are necessary,
however a sense of humour is essential. There are limited
spaces but if you are interested in coming along do
not hesitate to contact the Bridgend Centre on 01625

'Computing For Beginners'
The Bridgend Centre offers informal computing
lessons for all. Our computing volunteers will guide you
through from the very beginning. Our computer room is the only
Internet Cafe in Bollington. We only ask for a small donation
for a computer session with a volunteer who will help you
learn about the internet, email, word processing and more.
Online computer courses, from basic IT skill
to ECDL are available at the Centre, you can find out more by
visiting our Computing
page.
Children are allowed in the room under
supervision. It's an ideal place to play on-line computer
games and surf the net. Looking for a cheap flight, rail
ticket, or holiday? .. we can show you how.
Are you interested in genealogy, there are
lots of websites to get you started.
If you're passing, or just visiting
Bollington and want to check your email, call in, we will
offer you a cuppa tea as well.
'Reading Circle'
The Bridgend Centre Reading Circle meet
regularly on Thursday at 10am
The group size is small, limited by the
number of copies of a book accessible from our local library.
The group discusses many aspects of literature.
If you are interested in joining the group,
please contact a member of staff to be put in touch with the
volunteer who runs the group. A small donation from each
member is collected at each meeting.
'Woodcraft'
The Woodcraft team has been working hard for
the Bridgend Centre now for over 8 years. Previously the
Centre's workshop was managed by Joe Walmsley who ran
Woodskills and activity for those with a learning difficulty.
When Joe retired in 2002 from our Management Committee the
Staff looked to local volunteers to run the workshop.
Thankfully Louis, Phil, Frank, Bernard and Harold stepped up
to he challenge. After receiving a project grant in 2002 to
enhance the workshop roof and create improved storage
WOODCRAFT was born.
The team has created many high quality wooden
items ranging from tree seating, a memorial bench, monks'
benches, countryside anti-vandal seating, bird tables and
boxes and shelving to mayong tile boards.
The group would be more than happy to discuss
any wooden item that needs making for the community. They also
are very happy to receive donations towards running costs and
gifts in kind such as wood and tools.
